Ends on

Every ten years Granta magazine publishes a special issue identifying twenty of the best writers in a generation of British novelists. In spring 2023, we will publish the fifth edition, celebrating this decade’s most promising young writers.

Authors must be nominated by their publisher or agent via our online application form. There is no limit on the number of authors nominated. We request that all relevant books by an author are submitted. The final deadline is 1 December 2021.

To nominate authors for our 2023 issue, publishers and agents should fill out the form below.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Authors must have at least one work of fiction published by a UK publisher, or under contract with a UK publisher.
  • Authors must be born on or after 1 April 1983.
  • Authors must hold British citizenship or normally reside within the UK.
  • Submitted books and manuscripts should be literary fiction (including autofiction and fictional hybrid memoir).

In order for an author’s books to be considered, we must receive 6 finished copies or bound proofs of each book. Please send these by post to our address: Attn: BOYBN, Granta magazine, 12 Addison Avenue, W11 4QR, London. (If you are a small press and sending physical books poses a significant logistical or financial burden, please get in touch at boybn@granta.com before filling out this form.)

We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
